Peruvian percussionist Gigio Parodi is well known internationally as a versatile cajoneador, conguero, bongo player, percussionist and arranger. Gigio is one of the most outstanding percussionists in Peru, both live and in studio.

Born April 11, 1968, he studied music with Jorge Maduro, and studied percussion with renowned percussionist José Luis Quintana “Changuito” Van Van from Cuba.

Currently Parodi is a founder and member of “Trio Manante”, a group that has practically invented Jazz Peruano, a whole new genre in contemporary Peruvian music. Trio Manante have three albums under their belt: “Settle” (2008), nominated by El Comercio as one of the five best albums that year; “To the smug” (2009); and “Speak uncle” (2010), nominated again as best of the year by El Comercio. In 2011 the Trio Manante was nominated for Best Group of the Year (Award Lights, El Comercio).

Trio Manante also collaborated with renowned flamenco guitarist Ernesto Hermoza, releasing the album “Herencia Flamenca”.
